As the digital economy continues to encrouch on our daily lives, Infosys appears primed to continue capturing marketshare through its IT solutions business. Further, increasing digitization provides opportunity for the company to collect and resell consumer data in unregulated markets. Indian government IT spending is projected to total $8.3 billion in 2022, an increase of 8.6% from 2021. As the year draws to a close, this gradual increase in spending will ramp up. Furthermore, India just announced a huge investment into infrastructure, and the IT backdrop will be needed to help support this spending and transition.

Infosys is an Indian technology corporation that provides consulting and IT services to several large clients. They are the second-largest player in the Indian market, behind Tata Consultancy Services. Tata has recently seen a large decline in share price "on fears that large deals that drove most of its growth in the past year were drying up." One Indian stock analyst group stated in an article from today that "with mega deals largely missing for the industry in the last 2-3 quarters, this situation could play out for Infosys too after a great FY21 on lumpy deals." Infosys also boasts a low beta, reported at 0.61, according to YahooFinance, and are one of the top ten holdings within the Vanguard EM ETF, implying a trusted market consensus position that we agree with. They report earnings this Wednesday, which we expect to be positive. This is our first entrance into the Indian EM.
